Milk and keyboards don’t mix

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:10 pm

Milk and cookies mix, milk and crackers mix, but milk and keyboards don’t mix. Yesterday I spilled about 16 oz. of milk all over my keyboard. I couldn’t move since it was running down the table and onto my lap. I used my hands and arms to block the flow. With Kathy’s help we dammed and soaked up the flood with paper towels. After changing my clothes then it was down to the kitchen to take everything apart and wash it all. The keyboard has never been cleaned so it was full of bits and hair. Ugh. Now today it’s dry and clean, but I don’t know if I’ll ever get it back together again. I gotta be more careful.

Update:Yesterday, after leaving the keyboard to dry out for the week, I attempted to assemble it. Since I had taken it apart quickly to get the milk out of it, I barely remembered how to put it together. However, after about an hour of studying the various pieces I was able to do it with no extra screws left over. Then I was even more surprised that it worked. At dinner that night my family remarked how the subsitute keyboards were so upsetting to them, and how they had become used to this ol’ yet newly repaired and cleaned! keyboard. So human-factors does play a big role in what we like or dislike especially when it comes to keyboards. So when this one finally bites-the-dust where will I find another “Gateway 2000” keyboard from 1991 to replace it. Oh my! [P.S. You can find them (PN 7000598) on the Internet for about $45.00. Maybe I should buy a few for backup]
