New Running Shoes

I try to support the local running stores by buy running shoes from them, but this time I needed a new pair of Nike Structure Triax 14 and they just didn’t get them in. There was a new version/number/level introduced at the beginning of December. So instead I got a pair on the Internet from RoadRunningSports.

Oh, and one other thing. They are not black, which I have found that I do not like. Instead they are gray – much better. Typically white ones turn gray over time with all the miles I put on them. So starting out with them being gray is good in my humble opinion.

Goodbye old black shoes. You carried me though 464.2 miles, and another marathon. For that I thank you for your service. In your retirement you will be my casual sneakers replacing the ugly yellow trail running shoes that I’ve been using.

More new shoes

With the high mileage that I’ve been doing, over 400 miles on the current pair, it’s time for another set of Nike Structure Triax running shoes. Again Rogue only had black/red. I’ve come to realize that I don’t like black shoes. Just too too dark. I’d rather have white/red ones (even though over time they become gray). Oh, one other thing, the weather is starting to change too. It beginning to get a little cooler out. I hope that means that I’ll sweat less and this pair will not get as water logged or smelly as the past two pairs.

New shoes

I got a new pair of Nike Structure Triax a week or so ago. With my old pair having over 350 miles I’m now switching to the new ones. Also they’re dry compared to the water-logged old ones from today’s long run. After the run today I weighed the old wet ones and they weighed 1 pound 11.5 ounces. The new dry ones weigh 1 pound 5.2 ounces. Hmmmm, 6.3 ounces is almost half a pound. Maybe that’s why I’ve felt like I’ve been running slower, because of this added weight. Oh, and one other thing. These are size 8.5 and black/red whereas the previous ones were size 8.0 and white/yellow that I got at a half-price sale at Rogue Equipment.

New Shoes

I had bought two pairs of size 8 Nike running shoes a few months ago. My normal size is 8.5, but the price was right – half price. So I’m starting to use one of the pairs – the blue ones. The other pair is gawdy yellow. Anyways, I’ve got over 400 miles on the current pair, so it’s time to retire the old ones.

New Shoes

A week or so ago there was a shoe sale at Rogue and I bought a new pair of running shoes. I started using them this week on Monday 01/11 for my 4-mile run. I had started using the previous pair the week of 11/15. Since then I’ve kept a shoe mileage record on my weekly log and I accumulated 410.0 miles on that pair.

New shoes

I got another pair of running shoes at Rogue this weekend after the long run. I started using them this week on Sunday 11/15 for my 8-mile run. I had started using the previous pair the week of 9/13. Working through the weeks from 9/13 to 11/15 I accumulated 407.1 miles on that pair.

New Shoes

The old ones had about 390 sweaty summer miles on them. There was not much support in the heels any more too. They were soaked after yesterday’s 7 mile class run on Town Lake (I timed the middle miles as I ran with Tom: 8:48, 8:27, 8:34, and was happy to see that I was back in the eights and not dying). So it’s time to unpack the new shoes, another set of Nike Structure Triax, I bought a week or so ago. And time to start counting miles on the new pair.
